Letters and Large Letters with Amazon Postage

Dear forum,

I know topic has been discussed a lot in recent months so I apologise for going over old ground, but it would be great to get some definitive answers to my questions below.

I am FBM seller of Christmas cards.

Currently I post everything through my Royal Mail Business Click and Drop account:

85% of my mail is letters

15% is Large letters

After purchasing all my mail in RM Click and Drop, I would mark the delivery service as ‘Royal Mail 2nd Class Stamps/Franking’ within Amazon. However, with the new rules about using Amazon postage I have just noticed a warning sign next to my VTR rate in Non-exempted shipments.

Questions:

  1. Is it true all ‘Letters’ now have to be sent using Amazon postage?

  2. I read on one forum post, that ‘Large Letters’ do not need to be sent by amazon postage? Is this the case, and can I still use Click and Drop for these? If so, what do I mark it down as in the ‘Delivery Service’ in Amazon…Royal Mail 2nd Class Stamps/Franking? Will my VTR rate be effected?

  3. I received one order yesterday and see that Royal Mail 2nd class is not shown in the Amazon postage options, so I will have to send it 1st class. Is this Amazon ensuring that my delivery gets there on time. Is there anyway to get 2nd class to show again, as this is going to be a big hit on my profit due to my low priced items.

I am really worried that I will not be able to cope with amount of orders at Christmas due to the stories I hear about the inefficient label system on Amazon.

Does anyone have any tips on how to process a large number of orders using Amazon postage? I can have up to 100 orders a day in the run up to Christmas. RM Click and Drop system was so efficient with my thermal label printer.

As always, I really appreciate any advice on the above from the knowledgeable folk on this forum. : )

Kindest regards,

Richard

Yes, unless you want to upgrade your letters to post them as large letters, so they have a delivery confirmation, or send them as signed for, you will need to buy them through Amazon

When posting them on click and drop you should let click and drop update Amazon, they will select the correct postage method and upload the delivery confirmation numbers - You can not select stamps/franking anymore. Your VTR may still drop as it doesn’t seem to be fully integrated with Amazon yet, but Amazon have said they are validating codes behind the scenes and even though they don’t manually adjust your VTR, you won’t be suspended if your codes are all valid and just didn’t get a delivery scan

Yes this is Amazon basically saying 2nd class won’t arrive to the customer in time and forcing you to upgrade to 1st class. If if happens too often consider extending your handling or delivery time so Amazon don’t force the upgrade

I don’t use buy shipping, so I will let someone more experienced with it answer this

Another couple of questions:

I am just trying to do my first shipment using Amazon shipping.

I am getting the following options:

Royal Mail 1st Class Letter £1.10
Royal Mail 48 (large Letter) (CRL) £1.03

Is the CRL option due to having connected my Royal Mail OBA account?

Is it OK to buy the CRL option as its cheaper. Will my VTR rate be happy with this option?
Can I just post it in a normal post box?

Also, after selecting the postage these 2 warning have appeared:

Confirmation
Note: The carrier selected does not offer the confirmation method in your preferences.
Declared value
Note: The carrier selected does not offer the insurance selected in your preferences.

Should I ignore this? Or do I need to rectify it somewhere?

Thanks,
Rich

We have integrated our RM Click & Drop account with Amazon (and ebay). Once you mark the order as shipped on C&D, it automatically uploads the tracking on Amazon. This is for our letters and parcels.

Hi
It is not normally advertized but RM have an agreement with Amazon to cover this.
First contact RM and make sure you have 48 and 24 on your options on click and drop.
Then contact Amazon and ask for your cick and drop to be intigrated with Amazon purchased postage.
Once this has been done download the Amazon QR intigrated postage print…
Once this has been done you can now send all of youe large letters 48/24 and the track No’s will be recorded on Amazon VTR rate now perfec. You can now send all 2 class letters the same way and this will do not count against your VTR.
Tahe no notice of the price that Amazon say you are paying as the postage will sent to your click and drop account and you will pay the rate you have agreed with your RM contract. Also all the weights will automatically be given an average weight for the service used…
You can still use tou thermal printer I use Zebra
