Let's talk about Transparency!
I’ve been seeing a lot more questions come up about our Transparency program so I wanted to jump on here to offer resources and information about the program!
Who can enroll in Transparency?
- You must be enrolled in Brand Registry with a fully registered trademark and only the Brand Owner can begin the Transparency enrollment process.
Why should I enroll in Transparency?
- Verify product authenticity - Ensure that only authentic units are shipped to customers. Whether fulfilled by Amazon or shipped directly by selling partners, products cannot be listed on Amazon or shipped without valid Transparency codes.
- Engage with customers - Connect with customers post-purchase, no matter where they bought your product. The Amazon Shopping app and the Transparency app both allow customers to scan Transparency codes to confirm authenticity and access content you provide.
- Optimize your supply chain - Gain additional insights on your items at the batch or lot level, helping you identify supply chain or other issues, diagnose their root cause, implement solutions, and improve products with minimal disruption to your business.
The numbers:
- More than 47,000 brands have enrolled in Transparency
- Over 1.6 Billion product units enrolled in Transparency have been authenticated as genuine through code scan verification, whether sold in Amazon’s store or elsewhere in the retail supply chain.
- Transparency offers protection in 10 countries

Transparency program provided an anticompetitive tool for brands to monopolize on sales at the amazon level. Several brands are misusing this feature. They do not manufacture such items with these codes, as they utilize them on amazon only. This proves nothing about authenticity unless authenticity is determined by printing out labels with codes and sticking them on items which had already been manufactured and sold elsewhere without them. (Example; if i purchase directly from a brand wholesale, but the brand doesnt apply such codes to all manufactured product, then i cant resell what ive purchased if its enrolled, yet my product is authentic. This doesnt make sense)

would like to add that it probably isnt a good idea for amazon to produce codes that "authenticate" products when these same authentic products are being sold elsewhere without the codes.
