Fake Phone Call from Amazon Employee?

Hey everyone,

I’m in a really confusing situation and need some advice from fellow sellers.

On February 3, 2025, my Amazon seller account was deactivated due to policy violations. I contacted support, and they repeatedly told me:

"Violating the code of conduct or any other Amazon policies may result in actions against your account. Due to these policy violations, we have removed the Call me now feature on your account health page due to which we are unable to call you."

But then, on February 4, 2025, at 10:06 AM GMT, I received a phone call out of the blue from x6566 [Removed personal information] claiming to be Amazon Support. The caller introduced himself as John [Removed personal information] from Amazon and started discussing my account (I recorded the FULL conversation for my protection). However, the call was ended.

Now I’m left wondering:

  • Was this a real Amazon employee, or was this a scam call?
  • If Amazon explicitly stated they wouldn’t call me, why did I receive this call?
  • Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I don’t want to ignore something important, but I also don’t want to fall for a scam. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
