What ROAS do you think is acceptable, and HOW do we know we wouldn't have gotten the sales anyway?

What do you feel is an acceptable ROAS on an ad campaign on Amazon? Also, I've been trying to wrap my head around how Amazon determines the ROAS. AZ says it's determined by "attributable sales" but how do they know the intentions of the buyer?

We recently had an ad campaign going, we spent X amount but the bottom line is less than if we simply didn't run the ads yet the ROAS is good. It doesn't make sense to me. It just seems the sales would have been there anyway, and we test this throughout the year. The settings are automatic.

Some people are advertising their products and complain the competition gets the sales on their ad money. That's because the competitors have YOUR business name and YOUR model names in their search terms so when your brand pops up, their ads pop up. I think you should pick specific search terms to pay for, not general search terms. It gets too messy otherwise and you'll see this when you look at the terms you actually paid for.

Are you sure that sellers who advertise are using other sellers' business name and model names in their search terms?

The link I posted above addresses prohibited search terms, adding search terms, and frequently asked questions. The prohibited terms include your brand and other brands.
