Royal Mail BPL1 Still VTR Exempt???????
Hi,
For the majority of the last 2 years ive been using CRL24 for all my orders as i thought i had to for my VTR, however a few months back i was informed that BPL1 is exempt from VTR aswell, Amazon enforced this around a year ago, so because im not VAT registered i should use BPL1 as CRL24 includes the VAT so i can save 20p per item i post using BPL1.... so before i started using BPL1 my VTR was around 80%, over the last 2 months my VTR has come down as i expected it to using the BPL1 as most posties don't scan them either, even though they should. So today my VTR has come up with a exclamation mark by it...... Can anyone still confirm BPL1 is still exempt ? I don't want to go through all the hassle of writing a plan of action because my account gets suspended for VTR.

BPL was only ever exempt in the first couple of months after the original institution of VTR over two years ago, and that error was corrected in July of the same year.
BPL is not exempt. For Large Letters and Parcels it is, however, able to be validated by Amazon behind the scenes meaning it is acceptable to use so long as it is being recorded correctly at dispatch. You will end up with a low VTR, but since Amazon are verifying the numbers, you won't have listings suspended and can ignore the emails.
How are you marking it as dispatched and with what information? What does it look like on your VTR report? Does the 'Have Tracking ID' field say yes? Is the parcel ID showing up in the column for tracking details or does it sai 'Invalid'? If the number is showing, and it says yes in the 'Has Tracking ID' column, then even if the 'Has Valid Tracking' column says no, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
If you've been using it to send Letter post, that will be a problem though, as Letter post now has to be sent through Buy Shipping, or switched to using Large Letter.
