Shipping costs

Hi. I’m recently new to Amazon seller central and currently sending a product but can’t seem to shake the shipping fees for my customers. I’ve been reading that shipping fees can’t be changed for individual seller accounts (I get it, but don’t at the same time but whatever :)) Does it make sense to shave the shipping credit off the price of my product to level out the price for my customers as if they were buying my product (full price) without the shipping fees? I’m prepared to do so to keep them happy (thus, speed up sales) but I can also sense some negative impact later on down the line. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

It depends which selling PLAN you are on, not the type of seller account. There are 2 PLANS - individual (pay an extra small fee per sale, and professional plan (pay £30 a month). If you are on individual PLAN you cannot set your own shipping costs, you need to use Amazon's default charge dependent on which category of goods you sell.

The 2 seller account types (the legal entity) are BUSINESS (for selling goods bought to sell on for profit) and Individual seller account (ONLY for selling off one's own personal second-hand items (eg. books, DVDs, CDs etc).

If you want to set your own shipping rates you need to pay the monthly professional plan fee., and set up shipping templates. You need to factor in the total cost a customer will pay for the item.

from what you have said it does sound like you are on the individual selling plan.

You cannot set free delivery which is what it sounds like you want to do and incorporate the shipping costs into the product price. Because trust me, nothing is genuinely free delivery.

So you can reduce the product price to even it out, though it is worth noting I think offering free delivery does play into amazons ranking algorithm in some way

As above there is no such thing as free delivery, no delivery driver works for free nor do their vans run on fresh air but for some reason customers like to see free delivery so that will mean upgrading your plan and changing your prices to include your delivery costs. It can work in your favour, if a customer buys two items and you can ship them together then you benefit from the extra that the customer has paid.
