Merchant fulfilled is getting over half of used buy bux features over FBA
If you are a used fba book / media seller, you need to check your listings. It appears there has been some type of glitch on the back end of Amazon which has changed how the featured buy box algorthim works. Currently it seems to be favoring merchant fulfilled used items even if you match the cost of that merchant fulfilled listing. It's not a pricing issue. Its a serious change in the algorithm. Amazon please fix this glitch or at the very least let us know if you have made an intentional change to how the featured buy box operates.

Yep, I was coming here to post about this or see if this was posted about. Its been this way for at least a few days now.

Yeah, since the morning of the 24th there was a change to approximately half of all book listings, then this morning it became all book listings.
Here are some threads on it, would love to hear from a mod if they can confirm a glitch or not.

I've even seen it on one book where the lowest FBA price was lower than the FBM offer that got the BB!
I'm hoping that this is a response to the FCs being backed up (as evidenced by various threads about long check-in times), but really have no idea. Thankfully, I'm mostly FBM now; if FBA doesn't get the BB, no reason to not be 100% FBM.
It would be nice if Amazon told us what was up, but I seriously doubt that they will. They are very tight lipped about the BB algorithm.

I'm surprised no one from Amazon has commented on this yet. This is a major issue affecting anyone who is a book/media seller and sells primarily through FBA. Amazon spent a decade reeling in as many FBA sellers as they could get, now they are treating them like a nuisance.

My sales are down too...
I suspect the reason for the FBM preferential treatment is due to the current FTC v Amazon lawsuit. Amazon is being accused of monopolizing sales, basically forcing sellers to pay extra (FBA fees) to bump up their product in the buy box meanwhile burying other listings (MCF especially) into nonexistence. The FTC has noticed the steep jump in recent seller fees and accused Amazon of taking advantage of third-party sellers' need to be featured in the buy box. I don't think Amazon is going to address it because the lawsuit is ongoing.
I'm concerned because I think Amazon is trying to look good for the court; they want to show that they are fair and encourage competition instead of forcing sellers to raise their prices to offset the FBA fees. Therefore, I don't know how long this "glitch" will really last. In other words, I think it is deliberate, and it may be permanent, depending on what the court says. I am starting to think FBM is the way to go for now; why pay extra for a benefit you no longer receive?
You can Google FTC v Amazon 2023 for details.

This is so weird since I came here to find out if other media FBM sellers have seen a drastic reduction of their sales. Since the 10th has been very few. The 13th was ZERO. Yesterday ZERO. In twenty-five years I've never had ZERO days, now twice in a week. Wishing everyone luck.

To be fair, Amazon now has requirements for things like OTDR that make FMB performance likely to exceed FBA performance in many cases. If the platform were fair (ha!), the best offer would succeed, rather then the offer that gives Amazon the most money.
