Restricted Products EPA Exempt Purgatory
I have been trying to get an ASIN unrestricted for months that was removed for pesticide compliance issues. The product is a moth trap--a glue trap with a pheromone attractant, which has no requirement to be EPA registered. I have attempted to update the EPA Registration information for the ASIN, but because the ASIN is restricted, my attempts to upload an inventory file are being rejected.
ASIN: B08TFCLRV9
Hoping to get some help from a mod on this one...

Hi @Seller_tjI2EZ2b1d5Ml,
I understand your frustration with the moth trap situation. Looking at the help pages, I can see why you're stuck in this tricky situation.
Under "Common examples of pesticide devices" in Pest control products and pesticides, "insect traps" are specifically listed as pesticide devices. While these don't need EPA registration, the help page notes that "pesticide devices must be labeled with an EPA establishment number."
I can see you've already tried updating the EPA Registration information but can't because the ASIN is restricted. Since you can't update the information through inventory files while the ASIN is restricted, you might want to try opening a case with Seller Support. According to Product safety, you'll want to include:
- Documentation showing your product is a pesticide device (insect trap)
- Evidence supporting your exemption from EPA registration requirements
- Your EPA establishment number
I know this has been going on for months - hopefully having these specific help page references will help move things along with Seller Support.
Best of luck getting this resolved! Michael

You product is required to have a pesticide establishment number as you sell a pesticide device. You get this from the manufacturer. I sell products with NO pesticides or chemicals of any kind and was required to obtain the establishment number because my products trap pests. If your supplier doesn't have you can pay a consultant to get for you for a several hundred, which is what I did. Make sure you print the establishment number on packaging so EPA doesn't fine you upon entering the country. Also note, the establishment number is different for each manufacturing location, not for each product or each company. So wherever your supplier manufactures your product should be used as the address. EPA will inspect this to verify once a year.
