FNSKU going to EAN pitfalls
I currently have my whole catalog on Amazon with FNSKU's printed on the packaging. I am brand registered and everything is working fine.
Now as I start to use other channels like selling wholesale in retail stores they want the UPC/EAN on the packaging. I would like to just use on type of packaging with the UPC code only if possible.
3 Questions:
1 - Since I have brand registry if I send inventory to Amazon with the UPC code will I still have the same protections as I did with the FNSKU's
2 - To send in the product under the UPC code - I will need to create a different condition(SKU) of the product correct?
3 - Is there any additional fee's if I don't have the FNSKU on the product?

Hey @Seller_jI19cJ3GOkPvo,
Do any other sellers sell this ASIN? When more than one seller has inventory with the same manufacturer barcode, Amazon may fulfill orders with the inventory that’s closest to the buyer, to facilitate faster delivery. This is just something to consider as some sellers don't like this idea, but it's not necessarily an issue. You can read more here: Using manufacturer barcodes with FBA virtual tracking.
To change your account barcode preference, follow these steps:
- Go to Fulfillment by Amazon settings.
- Scroll down to FBA product barcode preference and click Edit.
- Select Manufacturer barcode, then click Update.
It will take about 24 hours for the new preference to take effect, and it will apply only to new offers. You cannot change the barcode preference for existing offers or for shipments that have already been created.
To use the new barcode preference, you must create a new offer or change the barcode setting for each existing offer, and then it will be in effect for new shipments.
There are no additional fees.
It sounds like you are the brand owner! If you want to print barcodes directly on the product packaging, you can apply for a GS1 standard UPC barcode.
Let me know if you have any questions.
