Algorithm change?
Last year (in May I believe), I recall speaking with other sellers about how Amazon significantly changed their algorithm. My organic sales dropped in half and it seemed like Amazon was prioritizing advertising (of course) somehow.
Anyways, fast forward to this month and my organic sales are 1-2 a day (compared to 8 in previous years). All of my sales now come from ads, and while my ACOS is improving, it’s still not gonna be a winning formula for me long term.
Has anyone else noticed this? I know the economy plays a factor but people are still buying - it’s just coming from ads now and requiring more spend, eating into profits.

That is what this site is all about. Do you really believe that amazon is doing this for a hobby…
When you make money that is opportunity lost for amazon.

this is the sum total of my knowledge of Amazon’s algorithm, obtained during a grueling five minute search of the “INTERNET”, what does this mean, I have no idea.
How Amazon Rigs Its Shopping Algorithm
For companies that sell on Amazon’s platform, “winning the Buy Box” the area on the right-hand side of the page that says “Add to Cart” or “Buy Now”—is everything. While Amazon says it’s a neutral arbiter, there is ample evidence that the company has rigged its algorithm to deliver outcomes that further its own interests at the expense of sellers and consumers.
Amazon’s algorithm determines your product ranking by analyzing your product listings, matching them with online shoppers’ search queries, and then placing the most relevant ones on the first page of the search results.
To start, you will need a basic understanding of what is Amazon’s Algorithm. The Algorithm is the system which Amazon uses to decide how products are ranked in search results. It is similar to [the algorithm which Google uses for its search results in that it considers keywords in deciding which results are most relevant to the search and therefore which it will display first.
However, there is one key difference between Google and Amazon’s algorithms: the A9 algorithm also puts a strong emphasis on sales conversions. This is because Amazon is a business, and has a vested interest in promoting listings which are more likely to result in sales. Therefore Amazon will rank listings with a strong sales history and high conversion rate more highly.

Sorry this is so much later from when you posted but doing some research on a pattern I am seeing with sales and found the comment interesting.
To add to the sales history point:
Overall, I am noticing that the algorithm tries to replicate/ keep you within guardrails of what happened the previous year. Sometimes the sales will line up to the exact HOUR.
There were some times last year when I was out of stock of a few products that I am in stock for this year.
From what I am seeing, I don't think the algorithm is able to differentiate times when products legitmately were not getting sales from times when a product was out of stock when deciding what listings to recommend during the same timeframe for the current year. That's one of my working theories concerning this algorithm.
It's really unfortunate because you can have grown and improved leaps and bounds as a business owner but continue to have that time looming over and suppressing you.
